Meet Harry

Coached since he was nine, still playing

Harry has been coached by professionals since the age of nine — football, cricket, golf and rugby — and he still plays. That is the whole basis of how HVPT trains people: he has spent his life on the receiving end of good coaching and bad coaching, and he knows the difference.

He opened HVPT in 2024 at The Engine Shed in Sharnbrook. Every class is his, every programme is his, and by week two he will know your name, your lifts and which shoulder you are guarding.

In his own words

From playing to coaching

I have been coached by professionals since I was nine years old — football, cricket, golf and rugby. Sport has never been a phase for me. I still play cricket and golf through the summer, and football and badminton through the winter, so I know what it feels like to train around fixtures rather than in a vacuum.

The move from playing to coaching was not really a decision. People kept asking me to write them programmes, then asking me to watch them do the programmes, and at some point that stopped being a favour and started being the job.

I opened HVPT in 2024 at The Engine Shed in Sharnbrook. Small groups, proper programming, no templates. Everything is written before you arrive and adjusted while you are in front of me, because a plan that ignores the person doing it is not a plan.

How I coach

Six things Harry will not compromise on

I demonstrate every movement. The best coaches I had never just described something from the side — they showed me.
I push you harder than you'd push yourself — but you'll enjoy it. That balance is everything.
I correct your form in real time, every rep. That's the bit most gyms skip. It's the bit that matters most.
Your plan is yours. I adapt every session to your goals, your body, and where you are that day.
Training should be something you look forward to. If it feels like a chore, something's wrong.
The people around you matter. HVPT isn't just a gym — it's a community that holds you accountable and celebrates your progress.
The Engine Shed — brick arches, racks and the sprint track

Two racks, ample free weights, the sprint track and the ergs. The room holds twelve comfortably; we cap classes at eight so there is space to move and Harry can watch every rep.

HVPT members and Harry in the gym, November 2024
The sessions have made such a positive difference to my fitness, strength and, most importantly, my confidence. The atmosphere is fantastic, everyone is so welcoming and supportive, Harry is encouraging without making you feel pressured. It's become something I genuinely look forward to each week.

Harry makes the sessions accessible and as a complete novice to weight training, his knowledge and patience with me has been brilliant. I've found his gym to be a really welcoming environment everytime I've trained there!

He's created a bespoke plan based on the goals I want to achieve and I'm already seeing great results in a short period of time. I've also done group sessions with Harry and you still feel individually looked after despite there being others in the session. His private gym is awesome - far better than any other gym I've ever seen.
